  • 1 Tablespoon (tbsp) = 3 teaspoons (tsp)
  • 1/16 cup = 1 tbsp
  • 1/8 cup – 2 tbsp
  • 1/6 cup =  2 tablespoons + 2 teaspoons
  • 1/4 cup = 4 tbsp
  • 1/3 cup = 5 tablespoons + 1 teaspoon
  • 3/8 cup = 6 tablespoons
  • 1/2 cup = 8 tablespoons
  • 2/3 cup = 10 tablespoons + 2 teaspoons
  • 3/4 cup = 12 tablespoons
  • 1 cup = 48 teaspoons
  • 1 cup = 16 tablespoons
  • 8 fluid ounces (fl oz) = 1 cup
  • 1 pint (pt) = 2 cups
  • 1 quart (qt) =  2 pints
  • 4 cups = 1 quart

US Liquid Volume Measurements

  • 8 fluid ounces = 1 cup
  • 1 pint = 2 cups = 16 fluid ounces
  • 1 quart = 2 pints = 4 cups
  • 1 gallon = 4 quarts = 16 cups

 

US Dry Volume Measurements

  • 1/16 teaspoon = dash
  • 1/8 teaspoon = a pinch
  • 3 teaspoons = 1 Tablespoon
  • 1/8 cup = 2 tablespoons (= 1 standard coffee scoop)
  • 1/4 cup = 4 Tablespoons
  • 1/3 cup = 5 Tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon
  • 1/2 cup = 8 Tablespoons
  • 3/4 cup = 12 Tablespoons
  • 1 cup = 16 Tablespoons
  • 1 Pound = 16 ounces

 

Pan Size Equivalents

  • 9-by-13 inch baking dish = 22-by-33-centimeter baking dish
  • 8-by-8-inch dish = 20-by-20-centimeter baking dish
  • 9-by-5-inch loaf pan = 23-by-12-centimeter loaf pan (=8 cups or 2 liters in capacity)
  • 10-inch cake pan = 25-centimeter tart or cake pan
  • 9-inch cake pan = 22-centimeter cake pan

 

Ratios For Selected Foods

Butter:

  • 1 T. = 14 grams
  • 1 stick = 4 ounces=113 grams
  • 4 sticks = 16 ounces=452 grams

Lemon:

  • 1 lemon = 1 to 3 tablespoons juice, 1 to 1½ teaspoons grated zest
  • 4 large lemons = 1 cup juice = ¼ cup grated zest

Chocolate:

  • 1 ounce = ¼ cup grated = 40 grams
  • 6 ounces chips = 1 cup chips = 160 grams

Creams:

  • Half and half = ½ milk ½ cream = 10.5 to 18 % Butterfat
  • Light cream = 18 % butterfat
  • Light whipping cream = 26-30 % butterfat
  • Heavy cream = 36 % or more butterfat
  • Double cream = extra-thick double cream,Clotted or Devonshire = 42 % butterfat
